    Similarity with other Taxa

The shapes of the virions of the genera Tungrovirus and Badnavirus resemble those of viruses in Alfalfa mosaic virus (family Bromoviridae) and Mushroom bacilliform virus (family Barnaviridae) but these are smaller, being up to 60 nm long and about 18 nm diameter.

    Derivation of Names

Badna: sigla from bacilliform DNA viruses.
Caulimo: sigla from cauliflower mosaic virus.
Cavemo: sigla from cassava vein mottle virus.
Petu: sigla from petunia vein clearing virus.
Soymo: sigla from soybean chlorotic mottle virus.
Tungro: sigla from rice tungro bacilliform virus.
