Begomovirus project using the Online Data Entry of ICTVdB

The value of collecting annotative data on the virus and vector in ICTVdB, on host plants in Herbarium collections maintained by The World Information Network on Biodiversity database system REMIB maintained by CONABIO and sequence data in GenBank in parallel is obvious, particularly if the records in the data collections are interlinked with each other. This investigation of Begomovirus genomes from native and agricultural plant hosts will provide us with a deeper understanding of the impact of environmental conditions on the functions of virus interaction with its hosts and vectors. We anticipate that this investigation will shed light on the mechanisms underlying the rapid recombination of virus genes occurring in this virus group in the New World and give us some insight into the evolutionary processes that are happening in front of our eyes.

For your perusal a synopsis of both systems has been prepared.

ICTVdB has an online data entry system EntVir for virus isolate submissions. Details about the data entry system and submission procedures are described in the documents listed below:
Introduction to EntVir, the online data submission.
How to submit to EntVir, the online data entrysystem.
The online data submission screen by screen.
Since many plant collectors that will participate in the Begomovirus project we have provided a Spanish version for the data entry procedure. The above listed documents can be accessed from the submission screen in Spanish and are translated on the fly into Spanish using ALTA VISTA's Bablefish webpage program. The questionare and submission forms on the other hand are published in Spanish.

English:
